Phone Triage RN/LPN- Pediatric
A Pediatric Practice in Atlanta is seeking an LPN or RN with a minimum of 3 years Clinical Pediatric practice experience to perform triage service for Pediatric patients over the phone in the practice office. This is not a remote position. This individual will serve as the primary contact for medical care to phone-in patients. The Triage Nurse will be responsible for completing an accurate assessment of a patient’s needs, be able to identify symptoms, determined emergencies, and if physician interaction is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will use Clear Triage protocols to assess patient concerns and/or symptoms and use clinical judgement to determine appropriate treatment for patient.
- Able to provide clear, concise and effective communication with parents, patients, and staff members.
- May administer medication injections and vaccines.
- Conducts comprehensive, preventative, screenings for patients and/or assists all support staff in daily patient interactions as needed.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment, including taking histories and vital signs.
- Follows standing order procedures as indicated by practice.
- Performs a variety of routine blood drawing procedures.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
- Performs various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to clearly communicate orally and in writing.
- Firm grasp of medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
- Must be able to always maintain confidentiality.

This position requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. The ability to observe details at close range and communicate information and ideas so others will understand. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and work in an environment that can be very stressful. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
