Position Overview:
Specializes in processing and managing commercial, Medicaid and Self healthcare claims related to pediatric patients. Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement, working closely with pediatricians and healthcare providers to navigate insurance requirements specific to pediatric care. This is not a remote position, it requires daily in-office presence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles incoming telephone calls and responds to requests for information from patients and outside sources.
- Processes claims daily.
- Payment posting.
- Reviews claims for errors, corrects claims before transmission and transmits clean claims.
- Aggressively investigates, corrects, and follows claim denials.
- Communicates to staff opportunities to reduce denials and enhance revenue.
- Identifies, reports, and resolves reimbursement issues.
- Communicate reimbursement issues to the appropriate management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
- Must be able to always maintain confidentiality.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED or Associate degree preferred.
- Certified coder
- Two years of recent relevant Pediatric Practice billing experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Possess written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
- Knowledge of processing and posting incoming payments, reconciling receipts and adjusting patient accounts.
- Ability to interpret various data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to find, research and resolve payment and posting errors.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and working within standardized operating procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health record (EHR).
Work Environment:
The noise level in this environment is usually moderate. This is not a remote position, it requires daily in-office presence.
