Job Title:  Front Desk Check-in / Check-out  

Position Overview:
Two plus years of experience working as a Medical Receptionist /Medical Front Desk required.  Greets and welcomes patients, visitors, employees, and staff in a courteous and professional manner. Determines the nature and purpose of the visit and directs or escorts them to specific destinations. Uses judgment and initiative to complete a variety of routine tasks and prioritize information and requests on behalf of visitors. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety.

Compensation: $16.50-$18.50 pr hour commensurate with experience
Benefits: Medical /Dental covered fully for employee and 401k offered

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and other visitors when they arrive.
  • Process and managing patient intake.
  • Schedules appointments for patient’s provider.
  • Answer patient/parent questions and aid when necessary.
  • Advise parents to complete forms and paperwork on the patient portal.
  • Collect Co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay payment.
  • Field phone calls and respond to emails.
  • Manage inventory of necessary office supplies and coordinate reordering.
  • Updating patient records, including personal information, insurance, and billing data.
  • Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments.
  • Verify patient insurance prior to visit and advise of status if termed.
  • Will check-in or check-out or schedule occasionally.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Two plus years of experience working as a Medical Receptionist /Medical Front Desk.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • EMR Experience.
  • Completion of a certificate program in the medical field preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years medical front office experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
  • Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
  • Must be able to always maintain confidentiality.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Written and verbal communication skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other personnel.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), EMR, and related information systems.
  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Ensure the privacy of each patient and follow all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Work is completed in a normal office environment and involves frequent contact with
staff, patients, and the public. Noise level is moderate. Work may be stressful at times. Contact
may involve dealing with people who are angry or upset. This position may involve working at
various community clinics and may require extended hours as needed.

Incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for
prolonged periods of time and talk and hear.

Some standing is required as well as walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
crawling, stretching, and climbing stairs. This position requires hand-eye coordination and
manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for
telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and
working in an environment which can be very stressful. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
